To refresh knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
- A basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and responsibilities as plant operator.
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturers handbook for the particular machine to be used and other relevant sources of information.
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
- Be able to locate and identify steering, driving and braking controls and explain their functions.
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufactures and legislative requirements.
- Safely mount and dismount the machine.
- Start and stop the engine and safely move the machine off and stop it safely.
- Configure the machine for travel and manoeuver it safely laden and unladen, over varying terrain, rough ground, inclines, in open and confined areas.
- Conduct all necessary safely checks at the work area.
- Manoeuver the machine to the work area and correctly configure in readiness to carry out lifting and load handling tasks.
- Carry out lifting and load handling tasks.
- Lift and transfer loads accurately and safely at different locations.
- Load and unload external transport safely.
- Fit, adjust and or remove attachments.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation.
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures.

Any experienced Telescopic Handler Operators who would like to renew their certification.
Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will receive an NPORS card.
3 Years
Candidates must have a current Telescopic Handler certificate and be able to provide proof of this prior to course commencement.
This course is designed to refresh candidates theoretical and practical skills to enable them to safely operate Telescopic Handler.
NPORS Traditional Route - The card will last for 3 years. An NVQ is not required. The CITB Health, Safety & Environment touch screen test is not a prerequisite.
NPORS CSCS Route - Delegates will receive a red card, carrying the CSCS Logo, which is valid for 2 years. If you complete your NVQ within this time a blue card is issued which then lasts 5 years. Delegates must also have completed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment touch screen test within 2 years prior to the course. If you require the CITB Health, Safety & Environment touch screen test please let us know and we can arrange this for you. If an NVQ has already been completed, please let us know and you will receive a blue card lasting 5 years

We automatically apply for NPORS cards that expire by category. If you require a card that expires by card, please contact us to discuss.
Candidates must hold in-date Telehandler certification and be able to provide proof of this prior to the course start date.
Candidates are required to bring paper and a pen to make notes during their training.
All candidates must bring with them one of the following forms of ID:
- A valid passport – no more than 6 months out of date
- A valid UK photo driving license - no more than 6 months out of date
- A photographic employee ID card
- A photographic ID card from an awarding body (e.g. IPAF, RTITB, NPORS)

If this course is eligible for a short course grant, please ensure we have your levy number before the course start date, and your candidates provide their national insurance numbers on the day of the course.
