- A working knowledge of the manufactures handbook for the particular machine to be used.
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
- Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufactures and legislative requirements.
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for Roller use.
- Prepare the Roller for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently.
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area.
- Operate machinery safely and efficiently.
- Environmental considerations.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation.
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures.

Any experienced Road Roller Operators who would like to renew their certification.
On successful completion of this course, candidates will receive an NPORS card.
3 Years
Candidates must have a current Road Roller certificate and be able to provide proof of this prior to course commencement.
This course is designed to refresh candidates theoretical and practical skills to enable them to safely operate Road Roller.
NPORS Traditional Route - The card will last for 3 years. An NVQ is not required. The CITB Health, Safety & Environment touch screen test is not a prerequisite.
NPORS CSCS Route - Delegates will receive a red card, carrying the CSCS Logo, which is valid for 2 years. If you complete your NVQ within this time a blue card is issued which then lasts 5 years. Delegates must also have completed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment touch screen test within 2 years prior to the course. If you require the CITB Health, Safety & Environment touch screen test please let us know and we can arrange this for you. If an NVQ has already been completed, please let us know and you will receive a blue card lasting 5 years

NPORS Traditional Route:
• Valid for 3 years
• No NVQ or CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test required
NPORS–CSCS Route:
• Red card (valid for 2 years) issued upon completion
• CITB HS&E (CSCS) test must have been passed within 2 years prior to the course
• Blue card (valid for 5 years) issued upon completion of a relevant NVQ
• Already hold the NVQ? A blue card will be issued immediately
If required, we can assist with arranging the CITB Health, Safety & Environment touch screen test.
Candidates must hold in-date Ride on Roller certification and be able to prove so prior to attendance.
Candidates are required to bring paper and a pen to make notes during their training.
All candidates must bring with them one of the following forms of ID:
- A valid passport – no more than 6 months out of date
- A valid UK photo driving license - no more than 6 months out of date
- A photographic employee ID card
- A photographic ID card from an awarding body (e.g. IPAF, RTITB, NPORS)
