We are situated just outside Sywell Aerodrome located on the edge of Sywell village in Northamptonshire, 4 miles from the centre of Wellingborough and 10 miles from the centre of Northampton. Sywell is no more than an hour away from Coventry, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge and can be reached either by the A43 Northampton to Kettering Road or from the A509 in Wellingborough. In either case, follow signs for Sywell Aerodrome. Once you reach the Aerodrome, please do not go through the main gate, as we are located outside of this and just to the left. If you are using a Satalite Navigation system please use the postcode: NN6 0BN.

What To Expect

This qualification is designed for a person who has contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults in their working environment including voluntary work. The qualification promotes awareness and sensitivity to safeguarding enabling learners to be able to identify issues and emphasises the responsibility to ensure that concerns are reported and acted on appropriately.

This qualification is regulated in the UK and awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA). FAA are an awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual and SQA Accreditation and the qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

This course is delivered over 1 day. The learner ratio is a maximum of 12 learners to 1 trainer/assessor.

  • Understand how to safeguard and protect children, young people or vulnerable adults in the workplace
  • Identify key elements of the law on safeguarding: • Children • Young people • Vulnerable adults
  • Describe how practitioners can take steps to protect themselves from allegations and complaints within their everyday practice in a work setting
  • Describe ways in which concerns can be reported for: • Children • Young people • Vulnerable adults
  • Know how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child, young person or vulnerable adult has been abused
  • Describe the characteristics of different types of abuse concerning: • Children • Young people • Vulnerable adults
  • Explain actions to take in response to evidence of abuse according to agreed ways of working
  • Describe how to respond to disclosures of abuse according to agreed ways of working
  • Identify those people who the information of abuse or suspected abuse may be shared with

Assessment method.

The qualification is assessed through a written assessment, learners pass or are referred.

Entry Requirements

The qualification is available to learners aged 18 or over. It is recommended that learners hold a minimum of level 1 in literacy or equivalent to undertake this qualification.

Qualification Validity

The qualification does not have an expiry date but keeping up to date with changes to policies, procedures and new legislation through ongoing CPD is vital. It is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training.
