They will also be able to take responsibility for the competency of the workforce and for identifying hazards and controls, monitoring controls and taking appropriate corrective action when necessary.
Individuals looking to achieve this qualification are likely to have some catering experience and be in a job role that involves working unsupervised. This qualification provides candidates with a range of food safety skills directly relevant to the catering and hospitality industry.
This Ofqual approved qualification has been developed specifically for insertion onto the Regulated Qualifications Framework with full support from People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism. It is therefore fully compliant with industry and regulatory standards as well as being recognised by environmental health practitioners, auditors and other enforcement officers.

We are situated just outside Sywell Aerodrome located on the edge of Sywell village in Northamptonshire, 4 miles from the centre of Wellingborough and 10 miles from the centre of Northampton. Sywell is no more than an hour away from Coventry, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge and can be reached either by the A43 Northampton to Kettering Road or from the A509 in Wellingborough. In either case, follow signs for Sywell Aerodrome. Once you reach the Aerodrome, please do not go through the main gate, as we are located outside of this and just to the left. This accredited qualification is intended principally for those who are operating in a supervisory role within the catering and hospitality industry.
Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering (RQF).
To register on to this qualification, learners are required to be 18 years of age or above. It is also advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in English and Maths or equivalent.
Supervising Food Safety (Level 3) covers the following topics: Microbiology Food contamination hazards and controls Food poisoning and foodborne disease Personal hygiene Storage/temperature control Food spoilage and preservation Food premises and equipment Cleaning & disinfection Pest control Supervisory management/HACCP Food safety legislation
This qualification is achieved by completing a quiz book (6-8 hours) followed by a two day classroom based course. It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination, where the candidates must answer atleast 27 out of 45 questions correctly. A merit is awarded to candidates scoring 36 or more. The examination will take a maximum of 90 minutes to complete.
