Who is this qualification for?
This qualification is aimed at individuals who work in an environment where coming into contact with hazardous substances is likely. This includes workplaces in areas such as manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, transport, utilities and office environments.
How long will it take?
To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake 5 hours of guided learning.
Topics covered
These include the law relating to hazardous substances in the workplace, how risk assessments contribute to the safe use of hazardous substances in the workplace and the precautions and procedures necessary to ensure that risks associated with hazardous substances are properly controlled.
Assessment method
This qualification is suitable for learners over the age of 16. It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination, where the candidates must answer atleast 9 out of 15 questions correctly. The examination will take a maximum of 30 minutes to complete.

We are situated just outside Sywell Aerodrome located on the edge of Sywell village in Northamptonshire, 4 miles from the centre of Wellingborough and 10 miles from the centre of Northampton. Sywell is no more than an hour away from Coventry, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge and can be reached either by the A43 Northampton to Kettering Road or from the A509 in Wellingborough. In either case, follow signs for Sywell Aerodrome. Once you reach the Aerodrome, please do not go through the main gate, as we are located outside of this and just to the left. Level 2 Award in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (RQF)
3 years
There are no prerequisites for this qualification, although it is recommended that learners have a minimum of level 1 in literacy/English or equivalent. This qualification is approved for delivery to learners aged 14+.
This qualification is assessed by a 15-question multiple-choice examination that must be completed within 30 minutes. Successful learners will have to demonstrate knowledge across the unit content and correctly answer 9 questions or more to achieve a pass.
