OVERVIEW
The aim of this course is to develop the learner’s knowledge, understanding and skills in the management of life-threatening bleeding for those working in high-risk environments where there is a significant risk of this type of injury. The course meets the requirements for additional training as outlined in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.
AIMS
The aim of this course is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to:
1.Define the term life-threatening bleeding.
2.Explain how to recognise life-threatening bleeding.
3.Manage a casualty with a life-threatening bleed.
4.Use a manufactured tourniquet.

Complimentary hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day. We have a vending machine where cold drinks and snacks can be purchased.
We have a catering van which visits our premises and there are several other facilities close by where food and drinks can be purchased. A refrigerator and a microwave are available for use in our canteen.
SUITABLE FOR
The training will be useful for first aiders/responders who may need to deal with life-threatening bleeds in sectors such as agriculture, forestry and construction.
Candidates will receive an SL Award in Management of Life-Threatening Bleeding
Certification for this course is valid for 3 years.
PREREQUISITES
Must hold a minimum of a valid Emergency First Aid at Work qualification or equivalent.
