Under the Private Security Industry Authority Act 2001, all individuals wishing to work in the private security industry must undertake a recognised qualification before applying for a licence.

This regulated qualification has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). It is based on the relevant SIA Specifications for Learning and Qualifications and provides the necessary skills and knowledge for those who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as a CCTV operative.

The qualification comprises two mandatory units:
•Unit 1 - Principles of working in the private security industry
•Unit 2 - Principles and Practices of Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry.

The minimum contact hours for this qualification are 22 hours of the required 30 guided learning hours.

This qualification is suitable for learners over the age of 18. It is delivered over 3 days with a large amount of pre-course reading and written tasks to complete. Full details will be sent out to you.

The course is assessed by 2 multiple choice exams, a workbook, a written task and a practical assessment.

We are situated just outside Sywell Aerodrome located on the edge of Sywell village in Northamptonshire, 4 miles from the centre of Wellingborough and 10 miles from the centre of Northampton. Sywell is no more than an hour away from Coventry, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge and can be reached either by the A43 Northampton to Kettering Road or from the A509 in Wellingborough. In either case, follow signs for Sywell Aerodrome. Pre-requisites

To register for this qualification, learners are required to meet the following entry requirements: Age Ranges This qualification is approved for delivery to learners aged 16 and over. However, an SIA licence cannot be applied for until the age of 18. Language pre-requisite CCTV operatives are likely, in the course of their work, to be required to make calls to the emergency services, communicate to ground staff and liaise with wider departments and teams. It is therefore essential that CCTV operatives are able to communicate clearly. It is the centre’s responsibility to ensure that each learner is sufficiently competent in the use of the English and/or Welsh language. All assessment must be conducted in the medium of English and/or Welsh, as appropriate. Centres must ensure that learners have sufficient language skills before putting the learners forward for assessment. As a guide, learners should, as a minimum, have language skills equivalent to the following: ï‚· a B1 level qualification on the Home Office’s list of recognised English tests and qualifications ï‚· an ESOL qualification at (Level 1) on the Ofqual register taken in England, Wales or Northern Ireland ï‚· an ESOL qualification at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework level 5 awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and taken in Scotland ï‚· Functional Skills Level 1 in English ï‚· SQA Core Skills in Communication at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework level 5 ï‚· Essential Skills Wales Communication Level 1
